BE PREPARED (work in progress) by Torque Show
A TPA Climate Commission
As the Scouts say “Always Be Prepared to do the right thing at the right moment”. So take up the call and Be Prepared!
Join the next wave of creative protest as Torque Show asks the question “are we prepared to protest for climate change?”
In a live art public protest Be Prepared puts this classic scout catch cry in to action, exploring the notions of civic responsibility and civil disobedience, whilst challenging the participants' own psychological readiness to protest climate change.
Have you done enough to earn this badge? Be Prepared transforms you, the audience, from passive to active participants in an hilarious and riotous fight against climate change.
This work is in two parts and an exclusive work in progress for KUMUWUKI / Big Wave!
BE THE FIRST TO "BE PREPARED"
Here’s how you participate:
1.Attend the Elbow Room club nights during the conference.
2.During the Elbow Room’s operation between 8.30 & 9.30pm you will be tapped on the shoulder and handed a neckerchief to wear by some fabulous looking scouts and girl guides and then taken on a mystery journey to THE EXPERIENCE.
3.After the whiz bang experience tell your friends to join in on the event the following night
4.You can also book and tell your friends to join Be Prepared THE ACTION - Sat 20th October 6.30pm where you will participate in a battle royale of safe civil disobedience around climate change. It will be bonkers!
(make sure you are prepared wearing firm shoes and no ball gowns please)
TORQUE SHOW is Vincent Crowley, Ingrid Weisfelt and Ross Ganf. They are a company committed to creating dramaturgically focused dance theatre, physical theatre and contemporary performance. Their work is an exciting departure from their professional engagements with Meryl Tankard’s Australian Dance Theatre, Force Majuere, Splinter Group and TanzTheater Bazel.
Be Prepared is supported by The Dara Foundation climate change commission for the Malthouse Theatre and Tipping Point and assisted by the Australian Government through the Theatre Board of the Australia Council, its arts funding advisory body.
